During the British Raj, Jaipur was the capital of a princely
state of the same name. Jaipur state, which existed from the
twelfth century until Indian Independence in 1947, took its
name from the city. The state is said to have been founded about
1128 by Dulaha Raya, who hailed from Gwalior; he and his Kachwaha
kinsmen are said to have absorbed or driven out the local Meenas
chiefs . Their original capital in the Dhundhar region was Dausa,
Ramgarth then Amber before the shift to Jaipur. Maharaja Sawai
Man Singh II (1922-1949), in 1948, shortly after India's independence,
acceded the state of Jaipur to the Government of India, and
Jaipur became the capital of Rajasthan.
The ambience of Jaipur slowly fills in the void created in this
hi-tech world, cultural heritage that has been preserved for
years strengthen the faith and with the culmination of doubts
and fears the colorful city leaves behind a lasting impression.
Jaipur city is an established tourist destination, quite different
from other cities and the difference being that of kind and
not of degree. But! But before moving into the city there are
some common acknowledged facts that needs to be taken care of.
These must know facts are:
- The history of Jaipur has its origins in 1727 A.D when
it was founded by the Kachhawaha ruler Sawai Jai Singh.
The place as such has the influence of Rajputs.
- Jaipur city has a polished culture that evolved from
the time when the city was ruled by the maharajas. But the
modern lifestyle has its impact on the upcoming generation.
The whole place is a unique blend of ancient and modern
entities.

Hawa Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, Jantar Mantar, Ram Niwas Garden,

- Delhi and Agra are two important cities which are close
to Jaipur. These cities provide for the air, railway and
road transportation.
- Jaipur antiques and crafts are famous all over and it
is a good suggestion to check various markets in the city.
